Live Concert/Club Recording

A lot of the necessary equipment to do a live recording is already present at the venue. What I do is supplement that equipment, add a little secret sauce, to make the finished product sound almost the same as if you were there.

In many cases most of the things that make a live show great are impossibly hard to recreate in the studio. But, if you have a great live show and you’ve recorded it properly, you’ve captured it forever!

Once it’s recorded, I can mix it in Pro Tools and before you know it you’ve got a finished product. (If you have a video of the show, the high quality audio we’ve captured can be laid into the video afterwards.) Then, of course, the next gig you do, you’ll have cd’s/dvd’s of a live show to sell. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination!

Here’s a clip of a recent recording I did for Yuval Ron @ The Skirball.

And this is a sample of a live capture/mix of Samba Mapangala that I did at the Skirball.
